Yes, you could be. Not always. But, there are circumstances where even if someone trespasses on your property you could be held responsible for their injuries. Most folks have this thing called homeowner’s insurance. So, what I tell folks is, if anyone is on your property and they get injured, you need to contact your homeowner’s insurance very very quickly so that they can investigate and come to a conclusion as to whether or not you may or may not be responsible for those injuries. Part of what you get with an insurance policy is they have to hire you a lawyer if there is a claim filed against you. So take advantage of what you’ve paid for with your insurance policy. And remember those insurance policies require that you if you know about a claim if you delay letting them know about it. Then they can basically take the position you lost that coverage. So the moment you think there could be a claim filed against you contact your homeowners and let them investigate it and get you a lawyer if you need one.
